Manage Snapshot

This page will explain how to manage snapshots on the Awanio Platform, including creating snapshots and restoring them.

Create Snapshots

Apart from scheduling, snapshots can also be done directly in 2 ways:

  1. Compute >> Snapshots Menu

    If you go through this menu, there is a form that requires you to choose which VM you want to create a snapshot for. Then provide a name for the snapshot to be created. After successfully creating a snapshot, a list of snapshosts will appear in this menu.

  2. VM details in Snapshot tab

    if you go this way, just provide a name for the snapshot to be created and the selected VM is automatic. After successfully creating a snapshot, the SnapShost list will appear in this menu.

Create a Snapshot Schedule

To create a snapshot schedule from VM details:

  1. Click the VM name in the VM list to view its details
  2. Click the Snapshots tab
  3. In the Schedule section, click the Create button if you don’t have any schedule yet
  4. A form page will appear to input the time period for creating the snapshot
  5. Fill in the backup period (hourly, daily, or weekly)
  6. Fill in the backup time
  7. Fill in the snapshot deletion time (maximum 31)
  8. If you want to immediately create a snapshot, click on the Create snapshot immediately section
  9. Click the Create button

To create a schedule from the Snapshot - Schedule page:

  1. Click the Compute >> Snapshots menu then go to Schedules tab
  2. Click the Create button at the top right of the page
  3. A form page will appear to select the VM and input the time period for creating the snapshot
  4. Select a VM
  5. Fill in the backup period
  6. Fill in the backup time
  7. Fill in the snapshot deletion time (maximum 31)
  8. If you want to immediately create a snapshot, click on the Create snapshot immediately section
  9. Click the Create button

1 VM can only have 1 snapshot schedule.

Update Snapshot Schedule

To update the schedule, you can do it via the VM details or on the Snapshot - Schedules page in the following way:

  1. Select the schedule you want to update
  2. Click the action menu (three dots)
  3. Click Update
  4. Update the data on the form as desired
  5. Click the Update button

Delete Snapshot Schedule

To delete a schedule, you can do it via the VM details or on the Snapshot - Schedules page in the following way:

  1. Select the schedule you want to delete
  2. Click the action menu (three dots)
  3. Click Delete
  4. A pop up will appear to confirm. Follow the instructions in the pop up if you are sure to delete

Restore Snapshots

To restore from a snapshot, do the steps below:

  • Open the snapshot data list (can be from the Compute >> Snapshots menu (Data tab) or from the VM details page on the Snapshots tab)
  • Click the action menu on the snapshot data and choose Restore
  • Confirm the restore action

Note

The VM will be restarted after the restore process is complete.
