What is Virtual Machine (VM)?

A virtual machine (VM) is the virtualization/emulation of a computer system. It allows a business to run an operating system that behaves like a completely separate computer in an app window on a desktop. VM software can run programs and operating systems, store data, connect to networks, and do other computing functions, and requires maintenance such as updates and system monitoring.


How am I charged for creating Virtual Machines on the platform?

Virtual Machines are charged according to usage on an hourly basis. After creating a VM, your credit will immediately be held at the cost for 1 hour, according to the plan you choose. On the 1st of the following month, an invoice will be issued and the credit amount will be deducted.


Can I switch my plan if there is a change in my VM requirements?

You can use resize feature and define your own specifications according to your new requirements. Processor and RAM specifications can be upgraded or downgraded, while storage (boot disk) can only be upgraded. Prices apply per vCPU Processor, MB RAM and GB Storage.


Can I have a backup for my VM?

Yes, we have scheduled and unscheduled backup for VM.

  • Scheduled backup can be set from Compute >> Backup menu and Backup tab in VM Detail page, backup section. You can set period to create a snapshot
  • Unscheduled backup (Snapshot) can be generated from Compute >> Snapshot menu and Backup tab in VM Detail page, Snapshot section.

For each snapshot you created, you will be charged based on the VM boot disk capacity. The price is displayed in the form of create backup and snapshot.


Will there be a fee for stopped instances?

If the VM is stopped, you will be partially charged for disk usage, since your VM is still there. When the VM runs again, it will be charged in full.
