This page will explain how to manage Volumes in the Awanio Dashboard.
Admins can manage storage data used on Virtual Machines in the Volume - Disk Storages feature.
Click the Volume >> Disk Storages menu to see the volume list. The Disk Storages page displays a list of storage data.
Apart from viewing the list, administrators can also:
- Search for volume data using name. Enter the volume name in the search box, then press ENTER.
- Filter volume data by organization and project. Select the organization and/or project in the filter, the data will appear according to the filter selection.
- Create volume. Click the Create button at the top right of the page.
- Attach to compute or detach from compute.
- View volume details.
- Increase size.
- Change the volume label/name. In the volume action options, select Update.
- Deletes unattached volumes. Volumes can be deleted if they are not mounted on a VM. In the action options there will be a Delete option. However, if the volume is being attached to a VM, there is no Delete action option.
On the Create Volume page, enter the volume name in the Label field and select the package (volume size). Then click the Create button to process the creation of the external volume. The volume will belong to the root organization.
In the volume action menu, select View Details.
On this volume details page, users can see:
- Volume name
- Status (Used if installed, Unused if not installed)
- Groups, organizations and projects where the volume is located
- Specifications, type (external, boot or boot-snapshot) and size (in GB)
- Price package used
- VM name info where the volume is mounted, if mounted
To change the volume name, click Update in the action menu to the right of the data. Change the volume name to your liking, then click Update to save.
External volumes can be attached to the VM by selecting Attach compute in the action options to the right of the data. A pop up will appear to select which VM to mount the volume to. 1 Volume can only be attached to 1 VM.
If an external volume is being mounted to a VM, the volume can be unmounted. Select Detach from Compute from the action options on the volume you want to unmount, then confirm your action.
Increasing storage capacity can only be done for external types, by:
- Select Increase Size in the external volume data action options.
- You will be asked to select a new pricing plan with the same or greater capacity.
- Click Upsize
To delete volume data, click the action to the right of the data, then select Delete. Confirm the delete action by inputting the volume name.
The only volumes that can be deleted are those that are not attached to the VM. Boot type volumes that are generated along with VM creation cannot be deleted from the Volumes page, they can only be deleted automatically if the VM is deleted.
