Licensing

Vapor operates using a licensing model to unlock its enterprise features. The system is managed either as a standalone node or centrally via a Cockpit control plane.

Licensing Modes

Standalone License

A standalone license allows a Vapor instance to operate independently without external control plane dependencies. This is suitable for edge deployments or air-gapped environments.

To apply a standalone license:

  1. Navigate to License in the left navigation menu.
  2. Click on Apply Standalone License.
  3. Upload your .lic file or paste the license key text.
  4. The system will validate the key, and if successful, unlock all associated features immediately.

Cockpit Control Plane Connection

For multi-node visibility, Vapor nodes can be attached to Awanio Cockpit, a centralized management platform. When connected to Cockpit, the license state is actively managed by the control plane.

To connect to Cockpit:

  1. Navigate to License > Cockpit Connection.
  2. Enter the Cockpit URL, Registration Token, and any necessary networking overrides.
  3. Once joined, the System is unlicensed banner will clear, and the node's metrics and status will report back to Cockpit.

WARNING

If a node loses connection to Cockpit for an extended period, it may enter a restricted state based on your license agreement's offline-grace-period policy.

Troubleshooting

  • Invalid Signature: Ensure the license file was not tampered with.
  • Expired Time: Verify the host's NTP/Chrony settings in the System Settings if you believe the license should still be active but shows as expired.
