Licensing
Vapor operates using a licensing model to unlock its enterprise features. The system is managed either as a standalone node or centrally via a Cockpit control plane.
Licensing Modes
Standalone License
A standalone license allows a Vapor instance to operate independently without external control plane dependencies. This is suitable for edge deployments or air-gapped environments.
To apply a standalone license:
- Navigate to License in the left navigation menu.
- Click on Apply Standalone License.
- Upload your
.licfile or paste the license key text. - The system will validate the key, and if successful, unlock all associated features immediately.
Cockpit Control Plane Connection
For multi-node visibility, Vapor nodes can be attached to Awanio Cockpit, a centralized management platform. When connected to Cockpit, the license state is actively managed by the control plane.
To connect to Cockpit:
- Navigate to License > Cockpit Connection.
- Enter the Cockpit URL, Registration Token, and any necessary networking overrides.
- Once joined, the
System is unlicensedbanner will clear, and the node's metrics and status will report back to Cockpit.
WARNING
If a node loses connection to Cockpit for an extended period, it may enter a restricted state based on your license agreement's offline-grace-period policy.
Troubleshooting
- Invalid Signature: Ensure the license file was not tampered with.
- Expired Time: Verify the host's NTP/Chrony settings in the System Settings if you believe the license should still be active but shows as expired.
